The International Association for Learning Alternatives is my new favorite non-profit organization. I have had big ideas of starting something like it, but I would rather write books than figure out how to run an organization! This does what I have dreamed of doing with freeEducation.

It is not in support of one certain type of learning, but follows freeEducations guidlines that learning needs to be free of these chains and should be an individual choice. They support Charter Schools, Private schools, public schools, magnet schools, and even unschooling. They see the value of families choosing what method is best for them at that time. They see the value of public schools being available to all. They explore and bring to light alternative learning methods - celebrating them and promoting a feeling of acceptance, not fear about learning philosophies that unfortunantly those who value learning the most, often shy away from because they don't understand that these ideas also come from a desire to help people gain knowledge - just like traditional schools.
